The label printing technology with lamination
Lamination is a process of gluing transparent film to printed products, which improves its appearance and increases its mechanical strength as well as significantly increases its resistance to physical and chemical influences. Lamination is used in the production of the labels, which in the course of operation will be subjected to high mechanical loads, intense abrasion, exposure to aggressive chemicals, immersion in water, etc. Decorative laminated image grows, the quality of the picture becomes better, and the colours remain bright for a long time.
Depending on the requirements, it is possible to produce products covered with glossy, matte or colour film. Glossy film perfectly conveys the colour of the image, its saturation and brightness. Light glare that occurs on a glossy surface makes it difficult to perceive small details, such as information text. When applying a glossy film, there is an effect that makes the colour more contrasting. The matte film eliminates glare, the label looks more decent and the print with a matte finish has a velvety-silk appearance.
It is also possible to apply fragments of other material to the finished label products.
The best ratio of price-strength-transparency “is characterized by a film of oriented (OPP) and biaxially oriented (BOPP) polypropylene. In cases where there are increased requirements for the tensile strength of labels, PET films can be used, but they are more expensive than PP films. Lamination of the label is carried out by using a simple transparent film or opaque materials.
